Resume Tip #15: Your Resume is a Tool

You would not use a blow torch to light a candle, would you? The same goes for a resume. Your resume is a tool that needs to be adjusted, within limits, to the jobs you are applying for. Do not lie about what you can do, but if a position calls for a Business Analyst and you are a Project Manager and you submit your resume as a project manager, you will not hear back from the company.
Many PM’s do BA work and vice versa so adjusting certain aspects of the resume to fit the job description would not change the content of your skill set, whereas it would increase your chances to get the interview.
